    Prayers for My Son

There is no love quite like the love a parent carries for a son. From the first moment you held him, something deep in your soul made a promise: I will fight for this child, and I will never stop. As the years pass and the world grows louder, more confusing, and more dangerous, that promise only grows stronger. One of the most powerful things you can ever do for your son is to pray for him. A sincere prayer for your son is not just a religious exercise. It is a spiritual weapon, a covering, and an act of faith that places your son directly in the hands of the living God.

The Bible makes it clear that the fervent prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective (James 5:16). When you lift your son before God in prayer, you are not speaking into empty air. You are partnering with a Father who loves your son even more than you do, a God who holds every day of your son’s life in His hands.

This collection of 40 powerful prayers for my son is designed for parents, grandparents, and loved ones who want to intercede deeply and purposefully. Each prayer is grounded in Scripture and covers the areas that matter most: protection, strength, guidance, faith, character, future, and so much more.

Pray these prayers with boldness. Pray them with tears if you need to. Pray them early in the morning and late at night. God is listening, and your son’s life will be shaped by the prayers you offer on his behalf.

Why You Should Pray for Your Son Every Day

Your son is growing up in a world that is pulling him in many directions at once. Peer pressure, digital temptations, identity confusion, academic stress, and spiritual warfare are all real battles that young men face today. A mother’s love and a father’s wisdom are irreplaceable, but there are places in your son’s life that only God can reach.

Prayer opens those places. It softens a hardened heart. It brings wisdom where confusion exists. It brings peace where anxiety has taken root. It brings divine protection over situations you cannot even see.

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Training a child includes more than what you teach him in the home. It includes the spiritual investment you make on his behalf through consistent, faithful prayer.

When you pray for your son, you are building something that cannot be seen with human eyes but is more real and more lasting than anything else you could give him.

What the Bible Says About Praying for Your Children

Scripture is filled with examples of parents who interceded for their children and saw God move in extraordinary ways. Job offered burnt offerings for his children continually, saying “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts” (Job 1:5). Hannah prayed so fervently for a son that the priest thought she was drunk, and God opened her womb and gave her Samuel (1 Samuel 1:10-20). The father of the prodigal son never stopped watching the road for his boy’s return.

God is not distant from your son’s life. He is actively at work. But prayer is the bridge between what is and what God desires it to be. Every prayer for my son that you lift before the throne of grace is an invitation for God to move in ways that go far beyond your ability to plan or provide.

40 Powerful Prayers for My Son

Prayers for My Son’s Salvation and Faith

    1. Prayer for His Salvation

Heavenly Father, more than anything else in this world, I want my son to know You. Draw him to Yourself with lovingkindness. Let him encounter Your grace in a way that is real and undeniable. Soften his heart to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ. Save his soul and let him experience the joy of sins forgiven and a life surrendered to You. Do not let him be lost, Lord. You did not spare Your own Son, so I trust that You will not withhold salvation from mine. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Scripture: “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9

    2. Prayer for His Faith to Grow Strong

Lord, let my son’s faith not remain small and fragile. Let it grow deep, like roots that go down into solid ground. When the storms of life come, let his faith hold him. Feed his hunger for Your Word. Bring people into his life who will model what it looks like to walk faithfully with You. Give him a personal faith, not borrowed faith, one that belongs to him alone and cannot be shaken by the doubts of others. Let him know You not just as a story he was told, but as a God he has personally encountered. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17

    3. Prayer That He Would Love God with His Whole Heart

Father, let my son love You with all his heart, soul, mind, and strength. Let that love not be a Sunday love or a ceremonial love, but a love that shapes his everyday choices, his friendships, his ambitions, and his character. Keep him from the idols that this world offers in place of You. Let nothing be more precious to him than knowing Jesus and making Him known. Where his love for You is cold, reignite it. Where it is weak, strengthen it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” – Mark 12:30

    Prayers for My Son’s Protection

    4. A Prayer of Protection Over His Life

Lord God, I cover my son with the blood of Jesus right now. Protect him from every physical danger, every accident, and every trap set by the enemy. Let Your angels encamp around him wherever he goes. Watch over his coming and his going. When he walks through dangerous places, go before him and be his rear guard. Keep him safe on the roads, in his home, in his school, at his workplace, and in every place his feet carry him. No weapon formed against my son shall prosper. I declare this by faith in Your name. Amen.

Scripture: “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.” – Psalm 34:7

    5. Prayer for Spiritual Protection

Father, I pray that You would guard my son against every spiritual attack. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but my son belongs to You. Protect his mind from deception. Guard his spirit from discouragement and despair. Keep him covered by the full armor of God: the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the sword of the Spirit, and the belt of truth. Let him stand firm against every scheme of the devil. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” – Ephesians 6:11

    6. Prayer for Protection from Bad Influences

Lord, please remove from my son’s life every relationship and every influence that is leading him away from You. Protect him from friends who would encourage him toward darkness, from content that would corrupt his mind, and from environments that would harden his heart. Surround him instead with people who love You, who speak life over him, and who sharpen him as iron sharpens iron. Give him the discernment to recognize danger before it reaches him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character.” – 1 Corinthians 15:33

    7. Prayer for His Protection at Night

Father, as my son lays down to sleep tonight, be his guardian. Still the anxious thoughts that visit him in the night hours. Drive away every nightmare and every fear. Let him rest peacefully under the shadow of Your wings. Refresh his mind and body as he sleeps so that he wakes tomorrow with strength, clarity, and hope. You never sleep and You never slumber, so I trust his nights to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” – Psalm 4:8

    8. Prayer Against Evil in His Path

Heavenly Father, stand as a wall of fire between my son and every evil that would seek to destroy him. Expose the hidden traps before he steps into them. Reveal the wolves in sheep’s clothing before they gain his trust. Let Your Holy Spirit be an early warning system in his heart, a check in his spirit whenever he is about to walk into danger. Cover him, Lord, with Your presence, for where You are, darkness cannot stand. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Scripture: “No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.” – Isaiah 54:17

    Prayers for My Son’s Strength

    9. Prayer for Inner Strength and Resilience

Lord, build in my son a strength that does not come from his own muscles or his own willpower, but from You alone. When life knocks him down, let him rise again. When he fails, let him not stay in the dust of shame but stand back up and try again. When he feels like quitting, remind him that the race is not to the swift but to the one who endures. Make him a young man who bends but does not break, who is pressed but not crushed. Strengthen him through every trial. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13

    10. Prayer for Courage to Stand Alone

Father, in a world where standing for what is right often means standing alone, give my son uncommon courage. Let him not be a man who follows the crowd into sin but a man who follows You even when the road is narrow and unpopular. Keep his spine strong when others try to bend him with compromise. Give him the boldness of Daniel, the courage of David, and the steadfastness of Paul. Let him never be ashamed of the gospel of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

    11. Prayer for Strength When He Is Weary

Lord, there will be seasons when my son is exhausted, when the weight of life feels heavier than he can carry. In those moments, be his strength. Remind him that those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, that they will mount up with wings like eagles, run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. Let him learn the discipline of bringing his weariness to You and leaving it there. Be his rest. Be his peace. Be the strength that carries him through. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

    12. Prayer for Emotional Strength

Father, guard my son’s emotional life. Protect him from the wounds of rejection, heartbreak, and deep disappointment that can leave scars. When he is hurt, be his healer. When he is discouraged, be his encourager. Help him to process his emotions in healthy ways, to grieve what needs to be grieved and to let go of what needs to be released. Give him the gift of inner emotional stability, a peace that is not dependent on circumstances but is rooted in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18

Prayers for My Son’s Guidance and Future

    13. Prayer for Divine Direction

Lord, guide my son’s steps. When he stands at crossroads and does not know which way to turn, be his compass. Speak clearly to him. Open and close the right doors. Let him not lean on his own understanding but in all his ways acknowledge You, trusting that You will make his paths straight. Keep him from the regret of rushed decisions made without Your counsel. Let Your Holy Spirit lead him in the way everlasting. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

    14. Prayer for His God-Given Purpose

Father, before my son was born, You had a plan for his life. You fashioned him in the womb with gifts, talents, and a calling that only he can fulfill. Lead him into that purpose. Let him not spend his years chasing someone else’s dream but walking fully in the assignment You created him for. Give him clarity about who he is and what he is called to do. Use his life for Your glory in ways that go beyond what either of us could imagine or ask. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” – Ephesians 2:10

    15. Prayer for Wisdom in Decision Making

God, every season of my son’s life will bring decisions that carry weight. Decisions about his education, his relationships, his career, and his values. Grant him wisdom far beyond his years. Let him be quick to seek counsel and slow to act rashly. Give him the discernment to see beyond what is visible and to understand the consequences of his choices before they unfold. When he asks You for wisdom, give it generously, as You have promised. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” – James 1:5

    16. Prayer for His Education and Career

Lord, bless my son’s mind for learning. Give him the capacity to study, to understand, and to excel. Let him find meaningful work that honors You and provides for him and those he will one day care for. Open the right doors of opportunity and close the doors that would lead him astray. Give him diligence, creativity, and favor with those in positions to advance him. Let him work as unto the Lord and not merely unto men. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3

    17. Prayer for a Hopeful and Blessed Future

Father, Your Word declares that You have plans to prosper my son and not to harm him, plans to give him hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). I stand on that promise today. Let his future be filled with purpose, joy, and the fruit of faithful living. Let every good thing You have prepared for him come to pass in its proper time. Guard him from the detours that could delay or derail his destiny. And let him always know that the best days of his life are ahead of him, because they are in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Prayers for My Son’s Character and Integrity

    18. Prayer for a Heart of Integrity

Lord, make my son a man of integrity. Let his yes mean yes and his no mean no. Let him be the same person in private as he is in public. Protect him from the temptation to cut corners, to be dishonest, or to compromise his values for the sake of approval or gain. Let him understand that a good name is worth more than great riches and that a man’s character is the foundation on which everything else is built. Grow him into a man that people trust, not because he is perfect, but because he is genuine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them.” – Proverbs 20:7

    19. Prayer for Humility

Father, protect my son from pride. Let him not think more highly of himself than he ought, but let him also know deeply the worth You have placed in him. Give him the humility to serve others, to admit when he is wrong, to learn from those who are wiser, and to give credit to You for every good thing in his life. Humble men are teachable men, and teachable men become great men. Shape my son into one of them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” – James 4:10

    20. Prayer for Purity of Mind and Body

Lord, this world bombards my son with images, messages, and temptations that are designed to corrupt his purity. I pray that You would guard his eyes, his mind, and his heart. Let him flee from sexual immorality and every form of impurity. Help him to understand that his body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and that purity is not a burden but a gift. Give him the strength to resist temptation and the grace to walk in holiness. If he has already been wounded in this area, bring healing and restore what the enemy has taken. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” – 2 Timothy 2:22

    21. Prayer for Kindness and Compassion

Father, let my son be known for kindness. In a world that rewards ruthlessness, grow in him a tender heart that notices the hurting and chooses to do something about it. Let him treat others the way he would want to be treated. Give him compassion for those who are suffering, patience with those who are difficult, and the courage to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Let love be the mark of his life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32

    22. Prayer for Self-Control and Discipline

Lord, help my son to govern himself well. Give him self-control over his words, his emotions, his appetites, and his time. Help him to build habits that will serve him for a lifetime: the habit of prayer, the habit of hard work, the habit of reading and learning, and the habit of taking care of his body. Let him understand that the man who masters himself is more powerful than the man who conquers a city. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.” – Proverbs 16:32

    Prayers for My Son’s Relationships

    23. Prayer for Godly Friendships

Father, I pray that You would surround my son with friends who will lift him higher and not pull him down. Let him find brotherhood with men who love You and challenge him toward righteousness. Remove toxic friendships and replace them with life-giving ones. Teach him how to be a good friend, to be loyal, honest, and present. Let the friendships he builds in these years be relationships that last a lifetime and point him consistently toward You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” – Proverbs 13:20

    24. Prayer for His Future Spouse

Lord, wherever she is right now, I pray for the woman You have set apart for my son. Prepare her heart for him and prepare his heart for her. Keep them both pure in their waiting. In the right season, bring them together in a way that is unmistakably from You. May theirs be a covenant of love, commitment, and deep faith. Help my son now to become the husband she will need, a man who leads with love, serves with sacrifice, and honors his vows as sacred. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.” – Proverbs 18:22

    25. Prayer for His Relationship with Authority

Father, teach my son to honor those in authority over him. Whether teachers, employers, pastors, or government leaders, let him not be rebellious but respectful and teachable. Help him to understand that submission to godly authority is not weakness but wisdom. And where those in authority over him are wrong, give him the courage and discernment to address it with grace and not with bitterness or rebellion. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.” – Romans 13:1

    26. Prayer for His Relationship with God

Lord, above every relationship my son will ever have, let his relationship with You be the most treasured. Let him not treat You as a resource to be called upon only in crisis, but as a friend, a Father, and a Lord who he walks with daily. Give him a prayer life that is real and consistent. Let Your Word be a lamp to his feet and a light to his path. May he know the sweetness of Your presence and refuse to live without it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” – James 4:8

Prayers for My Son’s Health and Healing

    27. Prayer for Physical Health and Strength

Lord, I thank You that You are Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals. I pray for my son’s physical body. Let him grow strong and healthy. Protect him from sickness, disease, and every physical weakness. Let his immune system be strong. Bless him with energy to pursue the life You have called him to. If there is any sickness in his body right now, be his healer. Touch every organ, every system, and every cell with Your restoring power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.” – 3 John 1:2

    28. Prayer for Mental Health and Peace of Mind

Father, protect my son’s mind. In an age of anxiety, depression, and mental confusion, be the anchor of his soul. Let the peace that passes all understanding guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Where anxiety has taken root, uproot it. Where depression has settled, bring light. Renew his mind daily through Your Word. Let him take every thought captive and bring it under the authority of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” – Philippians 4:6

    29. Prayer for Healing from Past Wounds

Lord, You know every wound my son carries, the ones that others can see and the ones he has hidden away in the deep places of his heart. Every rejection, every failure, every moment he was made to feel small or worthless. I bring all of it before You today. Heal those places, Lord. Let him not walk through life crippled by what was done to him. Restore what the enemy has stolen and turn his scars into stories of Your grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” – Psalm 147:3

Prayers for My Son in Specific Seasons

    30. Prayer for My Son as a Child

Father, while he is still young and the world has not yet hardened him, plant the seeds of faith deep in my son’s heart. Let him grow up knowing that he is loved, that he is seen, and that he matters to You. Give him a happy childhood filled with joy, laughter, and a growing sense of Your presence. Let the foundation we build in him now sustain him for the rest of his life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right.” – Proverbs 20:11

    31. Prayer for My Son as a Teenager

Lord, the teenage years can be turbulent and full of questions. As my son navigates this season, be his anchor. Let him not lose himself in the search for identity that every teenager faces. Remind him who he is in Christ. Protect him from the pressure to conform to the world’s definition of manhood. Surround him with mature voices that speak truth into his life. Give him a hunger for Your Word and a heart that runs to You rather than away from You when things get hard. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12

    32. Prayer for My Son as a Young Adult

Father, as my son steps into adulthood and begins to build a life of his own, be his guide. Let him not be overwhelmed by the responsibilities ahead but face them with confidence, knowing that You are with him. Help him to build wisely: the right career, the right relationships, the right habits, and the right priorities. Let every decision he makes in these foundational years serve him well for decades to come. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” – Proverbs 16:9

    33. Prayer for a Son Who Has Gone Astray

Father, my heart aches because my son has walked away from the path of life. But I know that You are the God who pursues the lost sheep, who lights a candle and sweeps the whole house searching for the lost coin, who runs down the road to meet the prodigal before he even finishes his speech of repentance. Run after my son, Lord. Do whatever it takes to bring him home. Break through every wall he has built. Bring him to the end of himself so he can find the beginning of You. I will not stop praying until I see him home. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” – Luke 15:20

    34. Prayer for My Son During a Trial or Difficult Season

Lord, my son is going through a hard time right now, and I cannot fix it for him. But You can. Carry him through this season. Let him feel Your presence in a way he has never felt it before. Turn this trial into a testimony. Use this pain to produce patience, and let that patience produce character, and let that character produce hope. Let him come out on the other side of this season stronger, deeper, and closer to You than he went in. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” – Romans 5:3-4

Prayers for My Son’s Spiritual Life

    35. Prayer for a Hunger for God’s Word

Father, give my son a deep and growing hunger for Your Word. Let the Bible not be a dusty book on a shelf but a living, breathing source of wisdom, comfort, and correction in his daily life. Let him be like the man described in Psalm 1, whose delight is in the law of the Lord and who meditates on it day and night. Let Your Word be a lamp to his feet, a sword in his hand, and food for his soul. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” – Psalm 119:105

    36. Prayer for an Active Prayer Life

Lord, teach my son to pray. Not just to recite prayers but to actually communicate with You, to come to You with his burdens and his praises, his questions and his confessions. Let prayer be as natural to him as breathing. Let him understand that prayer is not a duty to be performed but a privilege to be enjoyed, access to the throne room of the Creator of the universe. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” – Jeremiah 33:3

    37. Prayer for the Fruit of the Holy Spirit in His Life

Father, let the fruit of the Holy Spirit be evident in my son’s life. Let him grow in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Let these qualities not be things he performs for an audience but real expressions of who he is becoming as the Spirit works in him from the inside out. Let the people around him notice something different about him and let that difference point them to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” – Galatians 5:22-23

    38. Prayer for Him to Be a Light in His Generation

Lord, raise up my son as a light in this dark generation. Let him not blend in with the world but shine brightly for Your glory. Use his life, his gifts, and his story to draw others to Jesus. Let him be someone who makes it easier for the people around him to believe in God, because they have seen faith lived out in front of them. Give him the boldness to speak and the wisdom to know how. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16

    Closing Prayers for My Son

    39. A Prayer of Blessing Over My Son

Heavenly Father, I bless my son today in the name of Jesus. I bless his mind with clarity and wisdom. I bless his heart with love and peace. I bless his hands with purpose and fruitfulness. I bless his feet with direction and divine appointments. I bless his future with hope and fulfillment. I bless his name, that it would be associated with goodness, faithfulness, and the favor of God. May the Lord bless him and keep him. May the Lord make His face shine upon him and be gracious unto him. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon him and give him peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” – Numbers 6:24-26

    40. A Parent’s Surrender Prayer for My Son

Lord, I have prayed so many prayers for my son. I have poured out my love, my hopes, my fears, and my dreams for him at Your feet. And now I do the hardest and holiest thing a parent can do. I place him fully in Your hands. He is not mine to keep. He was always Yours. You love him more than I am capable of loving him. You see his full story when I can only see the chapter I am living in. I trust You with him, God. Take him. Lead him. Shape him. Guard him. And let the best prayer for my son that I have ever prayed be this one: not my will, but Yours be done in his life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Scripture: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” – 3 John 1:4

A Final Word to Every Parent Who Is Praying

If you have prayed through these prayers today, know this: your prayers are not wasted. Not a single one. God hears every word spoken in faith, and He is at work in your son’s life even in the moments when you cannot see it.

There will be days when you pray and it feels like nothing is happening. Pray anyway. There will be days when your son seems further from God than ever before. Pray anyway. There will be days when you have cried all your tears and the only prayer left is a groan from the deep places of your heart. God hears those too. Romans 8:26 tells us that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

A prayer for my son is one of the most powerful gifts I can give him. It is not a backup plan for when everything else has failed. It is the first and greatest strategy of a parent who understands that they are not raising a child alone. They are co-laboring with the God of the universe, who wants their son’s life to flourish even more than they do.

Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep trusting. Your son’s story is not finished, and God’s faithfulness is not exhausted.
